NOTE: Children should be supervised by an adult when creating this craft.

Directions

Step 1

Measure and cut 5 strips of burlap 18” long by 4-6” wide. Cut out shapes in the sponge (circles, hearts, wavy strips, etc). Dip the sponges into desired colors and paint onto the strips of burlap. Allow to dry.

Note: If you do not want to paint on the burlap, you can leave it as is or find burlap with patterns already printed on it. We found already patterned burlap but wanted different colors and shapes on each pouch. So we turned the burlap on the plain side and painted our patterns there. Blow up your balloon to desired size and tie off.

Step 2

Once dry, fold each strip of burlap in half. Using the needle, thread the yarn and sew the sides of the burlap with the yarn knots on the inside of the pouch. If you want shorter ears, sew more than halfway up the side.
If you desire longer bunny ears, sew below the halfway point. Either way, do not sew up the sides completely.
Coat the yarn on the balloon with the fabric stiffener.

Step 3

Place one Palmer® Gift Bag in each pouch. Cut out a “V” shape from the opening of the pouch. Gather fabric in the middle and using the ribbon, knot and tie a bow to close pouch. And your fun little gifts are ready for sharing.
