Shining Star Trophy with soccer ball and candy

Shining Star Trophy

Everyone deserves a trophy for their hard work. Whether in sports, academics or for being an awesome person. Make this Palmer trophy and tell someone how awesome you think they are.

Total Time: 25 min.

  • 1 2.2lb. bag of Palmer® Super Sports®
  • Plastic cups (gold color if possible)
  • Plastic champagne glasses
  • Gold spray paint
  • Gold pipe cleaners
  • Gold foam letters and stars
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors

Makes 2-3 Trophies

Step 1

Outside, spray paint the base and flute of the plastic champagne glasses gold. Allow to dry fully so they are no longer tacky to the touch. Note: If the plastic cups are not gold, spray paint them gold as well.

Step 2

While the glasses dry, take 3 pipe cleaners and twist the ends together to connect. Braid the pipe cleaners together. This will be one handle for the trophy. Repeat until you have 2 handles for each trophy you are creating. Cut two small holes on either side of the plastic cup, one closer to the top and the other closer to the bottom. Trim the pipe cleaners to the desired length and insert an end into each hole. Put a dab of glue on the inside of the cup where the pipe cleaner was inserted to hold in place. Repeat for each handle. Play around with the shape of your handles by bending and rounding the pipe cleaners so they look similar.

Step 1 - paint plastic champaign cups  Step 2 - making the handles for the trophy

Step 3

Put together the plastic champagne glasses by connecting the base to the flute. Glue a champagne glass upside-down to the bottom of a plastic cup with handles. Allow glue to set. With any extra pipe cleaners and the foam letters and stars, decorate the trophies. Put fun messages on them like: Soccer Star, Best Kid Ever, Great Job, Shining Star or Star Player. These trophies are even a great gift idea for Mother’s and Father’s Day. Tell your Mom or Dad that they are THE BEST!

Step 3 - glue pieces together!
